Donation Drives

Throughout the year, Quay 1 runs donation drives to support communities in need across the Western Cape, with a special push during the winter months when the need for warmth, shelter and basic essentials is greatest.

For these drives, we partner with U-turn Homeless Ministries, a Cape Town-based organisation with 25 years of experience helping people find a sustainable way out of homelessness. Rather than offering short-term relief alone, U-turn runs a skills-based programme designed by a multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists, social workers, homeless support workers, counsellors, trainers and life coaches, giving people the tools to rebuild their lives and stay housed, employed and sober for the long term.

Why winter matters

Cape Town's winter months bring cold, wet conditions that make life significantly harder for those without stable shelter. Warm clothing, blankets and basic essentials become urgent needs, which is why our winter donation push is one of the most important drives we run each year.

How you can get involved

• Donate goods: Warm clothing, blankets and essential items collected during our winter drive
• Donate funds: Contributions that go directly toward U-turn's rehabilitation, skills training and work opportunity programmes
• Buy vouchers: A safe way to support someone on the street directly, providing access to meals, shelter and support services without cash changing hands
• Volunteer your time: Practical, hands-on support for U-turn's ongoing work
